Diana Ankunda
Administrator
My name is Diana Ankunda, 25 years old, from Uganda. I love the administrative work I do with ADAMÂ because it is my first job after graduating from University. I have been with ADAMÂ now for 4 years, and I have gained valuable experience in accounts and administrative management. I’m so passionate about all of our work, including the bread distribution, and the giving project that is going to benefit so many vulnerable refugees in Oruchinga Refugee Settlement.

Sharon Tusiime

My name is Sharon Tusiime, 28 years old! I’m Ugandan and I got to know about the amazing work of ADAMÂ through a friend. I then reached out looking for a job to train the bakers to bake different things other than bread. I now enjoy my position overseeing the production team. It gives me great joy to be a part of the team that distributes bread and porridge to the refugee children of Oruchinga.

Claudine Nyirarukundo

My name is Claudine Nyirarukundo, a refugee from Rwanda. I have been in Uganda for 15 years now. I’m married with four children. When the war broke out in Rwanda, I was just five years old. Many people were being killed. Our home was attacked and set on fire. My parents decided to leave Rwanda and come to Uganda. We started a new life here in the Oruchinga refugee settlement. I’m now a baker with ADAMÂ, and honored to be part of the team. I also lead the sewing project. I'm so proud to be able to do all the sewing for the bakery.

Marion Ayebare

My name is Marion Ayebare, 31 years old. I’m Ugandan and so happy to be among those benefiting from ADAMÂ. I visited our first bakery and was warmly welcomed. I requested to join the women bakers and was immediately offered a job. I learned how to bake, how to operate the machines, and how to become a responsible woman. My house was really old, and recently it was renovated by the ADAMÂ team, something I never expected. When we pass out porridge and bread to the community, it fills my heart to see how hungry children get happy after being fed.

Aline Mashengesho

My name is Aline Mashengesho. I’m 23 years old, married with four children. I’m a refugee from Congo. I came to Uganda 7 years ago and I live with my husband, who also has 10 children. We have a big family and I’m grateful to be a baker with ADAMÂ. Before I joined the bakery team, we could barely afford one meal a day, but now that I earn a salary, I'm able to pay for food and school fees for my children.

My name is Janet Mukarundo, 30 years old, from Rwanda. I’m married with 3 children. I came to Uganda with my father when I was 2 years old. My mother died when I was still young and I don’t have memories of her. When I joined ADAMÂ , I never thought we would come this far but God has really been so faithful. There has been a lot of growth in my life because of ADAMÂ. My children were always home because I couldn’t afford to send them to school. Now I have a beautiful house, renovated by ADAMÂ, and I’m able to send my children to school as well. I’m so happy to be part of the team.

Yvonne Ivuyekure

My name is Yvonne Ivuyekure, a refugee from Congo and mother of three children. My family came to Uganda because of the war that broke out in Congo. Many people lost their lives, including my own relatives. Life in the refugee camp was difficult with no food or proper medical care but when I joined ADAMÂ life became much better. I have food to feed my children every day. My house had poor roofing and every time it rained it would get wet inside. Now that it has been renovated by ADAMÂ, it is safe and dry. I get to go to work every day, and get paid every month. For sure I am happy to be part of the ADAMÂ team.

Florence Kayesu

My name is Florence Kayesu. I’m 25 years old, a refugee from Rwanda, married with 4 children. When the tribal war broke out in Rwanda between Hutus and Tutsi’s, my parents and many other family members were killed. I was left alone, I decided to come to Uganda to seek refuge. I have been in Oruchinga now for 10 years and i’m so happy to be part of the ADAMÂ team producing bread to feed the children of the Oruchinga Refugee Settlement.

Clementine Uwineza

My name is Clementine Uwineza, I’m 25 years old, a refugee from Rwanda. I came to Uganda when I was 9 years old. Tribal differences in Rwanda between the Hutu and the Tutsi’s caused hatred. People were killing each other. Many of my family members were killed, including both of my parents. I came with my uncles to Uganda and we were received as refugees in the Oruchinga refugee settlement. I got married at 15 years old because I was not in school. Now I have 3 children. Joining ADAMÂ was the beginning of my happiness. I get paid every month, my house was renovated and I get to feed so many hungry children in Oruchinga through baking bread.

My name is Claudine Nyirabagande, 34 years old, a refugee from Rwanda. The first time I heard about ADAMÂ, they were mobilizing for the most vulnerable refugee women in Oruchinga Refugee Settlement. I’m so lucky that I was among the first women who were enrolled! I never thought we would come this far. I’m so proud to be part of ADAMÂ. We now have a beautiful bakery that has greatly changed my life. ADAMÂ constructed a new house for me after my house was fully washed away with heavy rain! Now my children and I live happily in our new home. There are no words I can use to thank ADAMÂ for the amazing work!

My name is Janine Mukashaka, 34 years old from Rwanda. I came to Uganda after the Rwandan genocide where many people lost their lives, including my own relatives. Starting a new life in the country of refugees was so hard but when I joined ADAMÂ my life was so much better! Now I earn a salary which enables me to send my children to school and buy them food! ADAMÂ renovated my house, and we can live comfortably and sleep well.

Chantal Dusabimana

My name is Chantal Dusabimana, 30 years old from Rwanda. I came to Uganda when I was 5 years old, after the Rwandanese genocide. Many people died and my family decided to move here to Uganda. Life was difficult, growing up in a refugee settlement. I was among the first bakers to join ADAMÂ. I enjoy baking and my life has been transformed. Before I didn't have a house. ADAMÂ helped me to get one. I now sleep well at night with all my children. I like going out to the community to distribute the food that we make.

Vianne Lwanga

My name is Vianne Lwanga, and I am a 53-year-old professional baker from Uganda with over 15 years of experience in the industry. I have been part of the ADAMÂ team since its inception. I played a key role in setting up the bakery by constructing the firewood oven, and I have continuously contributed by training fellow bakers in baking techniques, machine operations, and sales management. I take great pride in being part of this dedicated team and in supporting the growth of our bakery.

Benjamin Byarugaba

My name is Benjamin Byarugaba, 50 years old. I’m a Ugandan national with a proven track record in coordination and implementation of humanitarian health programs, extensive field operations and working experience with international non-governmental organizations in post-conflict settings. I got to know about the wonderful work of ADAMÂ in Oruchinga through a friend and I was interested in extending my skills with ADAMÂ. I enjoy working with the team and am happy with all the planned activities, especially the giving aid that will benefit many vulnerable refugees in Oruchinga.

Moses Benfeit

My name is Moses Benfeit, 27 years old, from Congo. I came to Uganda because of the war that broke out in my home country. Many people were killed in Congo, including my own relatives. I settled here in the Oruchinga refugee camp. When I first heard about ADAMÂ they were only hiring refugee women as bakers, but I applied anyway and received a job. I’m so happy to be baking bread now, and selling it, and giving it out to the hungry children in the community. I cannot wait to start distributing beans and corn flour to the most vulnerable refugees because they are not doing well.

My name is Ryan Baguma, 23 years old from Congo. I came to Uganda after the rebels attacked my family and killed my father in front of me. I’m now happy to be part of the ADAMÂ team, and to be living a better life. I now know how to bake, and I’m also gaining experience in sales.

Burazio Habimana

My name is Burazio Habimana, 39 years old. I’m Ugandan, married with 4 children. When I heard that ADAMÂ was being launched in Oruchinga, I was the first person to ask for a job, and was hired as a security guard to ensure our equipment stayed safe. I’m the driver of the tuk-tuk now. I am pleased to be part of the selling team, able to deliver bread and porridge to the community, to feed the hungry children. During my time with ADAMÂ I have gained many skills. Not only have I learned how how to drive and manage security, I have also learned how to bake. I’m able to send my children to school and take good care of them together with my wife because of the salary I earn from ADAMÂ. I’m happy to be part of the ADAMÂ family.

My name is Ajuna Cathebert, 24 years old from Uganda. For three months now I've been working with ADAMÂ and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. I enjoy operating ovens and I can’t wait to have our next electric oven! I cannot thank ADAMÂ enough for the opportunity because my life has changed! I spent many years without a job and working with ADAMÂ serving the most vulnerable refugees is rewarding!!

My name is Hussein Buwembo, 46 years old, from Uganda. I knew ADAMÂ when they just started. I was a taxi driver, hired to drop off staff to the camp during Covid time. I now work full time as a driver, and also assist in several technical operations like running the milling machine, and doing packaging. I enjoy my work with ADAMÂ and I enjoy the giving program.

My name is Pascal Byaruhanga, 35 years old, security guard. I’m Ugandan and so happy to be part of ADAMÂ. I came to know about the wonderful work of ADAMÂ through a friend! When I reached out looking for a job. I was surprised to receive an offer, and my life totally changed after joining ADAMÂ! Because of the salary I earn every month at ADAMÂ, I’m able to send my children to school. I’m happy to help make sure that everything in our wonderful bakery and kitchen stays safe.

My name is Juma Abubkar from South Sudan. I work as a security man for ADAMÂ. I came to Uganda alone after my family was attacked by rebels in South Sudan. All of them were killed, including my wife and five children. I decided to come to Uganda to start a new life. When I arrived here, life was extremely difficult. I had no money and no job. I reached out to ADAMÂ seeking support and was hired as a security man. I am happy to be part of ADAMÂ because I live a better life now.
